FLOUNCING ABOUT

like a spotlit
cartoon, he's a moment he's

a move-
ment of the slack

jawed smooth
syllabled character he becomes

spouting carefully oiled
phrases out eleven p.m. dead

alive and half awake enough
to brush his teeth with crystal

meth with entourage of
gnats and flies for a fan Club

Boy flexes a smile wide
as a billboard shiny

synthetic and white as asbestos
stirred up, mainlined

prepped right
out of the can because

life is like a
bare-boned rig, he

says so
he'll just grit his

teeth and take it, fake
it till he makes it: Club

Boy's latest con-
versation with mirrors, his bulls-

eyed pupils breathe tales of old
friends smeared together, strangers

now as he looks
at himself foam green some

preface with "sea" color
coordinated clothing and feels

like a bad trans-
lation his expression

hangs like a prisoner in
the bathroom's cadaverous

silence a
growling throb in

the back of his
throat across

a filmy Aqua
Net hairsprayed ex-

panse staring at
this molded plastic

torso why
am I here? he asks

what am I
doing? but in comes

a falsetto cloud of
queens and on blares

the music the
lullaby of small talk, gossip

and complaints he
tickets a Long Island Tea the

answer sticks in
his frigid

sublet flesh no
way to squint away

how much is real how
much is calculated

for effect

I'm slow to get on board initially, but quick to react when I do, as usual... ;) This is wonder-full!, and one of my fave CK pieces :D What's real behind the mask, indeed. And how long can you put off that question? Mx
